        Ecotours round Dali  2days

Day 1.

In this daytrip we will take you to Xizhou to see the busy and lively market where the Bai people do their daily shoppings. Xizhou is also known as 'small old Dali' because it looks like Dali 15 years ago. Mainly inhabited by Bai people, Xizhou has an old part with houses more than 400 years old. They are built in traditional style with Dali marble and black and white paintings on the walls and above the wooden doors. We will have a look in one of the oldest houses with a beautiful courtyard. After this we will go to a traditional 'pig-temple' where pigs have a last rest before they go to the slaughter. Inside is a shrine with a local god who protects the souls of the pigs on their way to heaven. After that will drive to Zhoucheng to visit some of the dye works. Will go back to Dali for the night.

Day 2.

we take a horse-cart to the shore of Erhai Lake where the boat will take us across the lake. From the lake you'll have a good view of the mountains and the clouds above. We get off in Wase, a small fishing village. Every 5 days they have a colourful Bai market here. After this we go to a traditional countryside village. Here we will visit a small hospital, a school, a local Bai Buddhist temple and a Bai family living in a typical farmer's house. The houses have beautiful original entrances, big courtyards with corn and peppers drying and chickens running loose. In the village you'll see pigs in the streets and the older men smoking their pipes minding their grandchildren and watching life go by.

We will take lunch at an Island of Jinsuo.after lunch we will hiking through round the Island and possibly viste some fishing men's family by the way. After that we will take boat back to the other side of the lake and take a car back to Dali and ending this 2 days trip

In the village you'll see pigs in the streets and the older men smoking their pipes minding their grandchildren and watching life go by.)

Day3.

we will take you to an area called Yi autonomous county.

The Yi minority market is running every 10 days. Usually the Yi live in the mountains and come down only for special occasions like markets or festivals. Some walk for hours. The market we visit is one of the biggest in Yunnan and sells everything from pigs, cows and waterbuffaloes to vegetables, corn, rice, tobacco etc. The Yi-women wear traditional clothes with beautiful, colourful embroidery. Besides the Yi you will meet the local people doing their shoppings and farmers walking their animals to the market.

Before the market we will visit a Yi village. We will make a gentle hike through the riceterraces to reach the village. Here we'll have a look in the small classrooms of the primary school. In the village they also produce eucalyptusoil from steaming the leaves of the trees.

After a delicious lunch we go to a traditional temple beautifully located in the ricefields close to one of the next villages. It is being looked after by friendly locals who raised the money themselves to restaure the temple after it got damaged during the cultural revolution. This local buddhist/ daoist temple is very peaceful and has many colourful statues inside. The day will be finished by a visit to the local whiskey distillery. This full daytrip is traditional, unspoilt and non-touristy.
